Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.5% to 3,002.56 at the close, the highest since Aug. 5. The measure climbed 2.2% this week, the biggest advance since the five days ended July 9. Three stocks rose for each that fell on the 30-member gauge.

Shares on the measure trade at an average 14.6 times estimated earnings, compared with about 17.4 times at the beginning of the year, according to Bloomberg data. The following shares were among the most active in the market.

Great Eastern Holdings said Ng Keng Hooi resigned as chief executive officer to take on a regional appointment at another company. His last day of service will be Sept. 30.

Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest carrier by market value, named Goh Choon Phong as chief executive officer, replacing Chew Choon Seng, who retires when his contract expires at the end of the year.

Goh, 47, will take charge on Jan. 1, according to a statement the airline sent to the Singapore stock exchange today. Goh, currently executive vice president for marketing and regions as well as chairman of the SilkAir regional unit, will join the airline’s board Oct. 1.

Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest airline by market value, named Goh Choon Phong as chief executive officer.

Goh, 47, will take charge on Jan. 1, according to a statement the airline sent to the Singapore stock exchange today. Chew Choon Seng, the current CEO, will retire, it said.

Daiwa has upgraded Ascott Residence Trust (A68U.SG) to Outperform from Hold on view price attractive after pullback stemming from recent announcement it will acquire 28 serviced-residence properties from parent CapitaLand (C31.SG), says Dow Jones.

“We believe the pricing and market uncertainty ahead of a proposed equity-fundraising exercise may provide an attractive entry point for value investors,” says Daiwa.
